Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

We aim to collect only what we need to run Loop:

• Account information. When you sign up we collect your email address, a username, an optional display name, and a password (stored only as a salted bcrypt hash — we never store your password in plain text).
• Profile information. Anything you choose to add to your profile, such as a bio, location, and a profile picture. Profile pictures you upload are resized in your browser and stored as part of your account record.
• Activity you create. Ratings, reviews, posts, lists, listen statuses, likes, and follows. Most of this is public by design — it powers the shared feed and your profile.
• Technical information. Basic request metadata such as your IP address, which we use transiently for security and rate-limiting. We do not sell this data.

2. How we use your information

• To create and maintain your account and authenticate you.
• To display your activity, profile, and content to you and other users.
• To operate core features like the feed, discovery, lists, and follows.
• To protect Loop from abuse, spam, and fraudulent sign-ups.
• To diagnose problems and improve the product.

3. What other people can see

Loop is a social, public-by-default service. Your username, display name, profile picture, bio, ratings, reviews, posts, public lists, and follow relationships are visible to anyone using Loop. Please do not post anything you would not want to be public. Your email address and password are never shown to other users.

4. Cookies and sessions

We use a single secure session cookie to keep you signed in. This cookie is essential to the service. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

5. Third-party services

Loop relies on a small number of service providers to function, including our hosting platform and database provider. Album and artist catalog data, cover art, and trending charts are sourced from publicly available music APIs. These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

6. Data retention

We keep your account information and content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your associated ratings, reviews, posts, lists, statuses, likes, and follows. Some information may persist briefly in backups before being overwritten.

7. Your choices and rights

• You can edit your profile information at any time.
• You can change or remove your profile picture from your profile page.
• You can delete content you have created.
• You can request deletion of your account by contacting us at the address below.
• Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, or export your personal data.

8. Children's privacy

Loop is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will remove it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Loop after a change means you accept the updated policy.
